Defaulting to set PHP 7.4 for New Accounts
We are now defaulting to set the PHP version of all newly created cPanel accounts to PHP 7.4.
PHP 7.4 has been released for over 2 years now and it include a range of improvements over PHP 7.3. It is also widely compatible with most PHP applications, plugins and themes.
As with any newer PHP update, PHP 7.4 brings improved performance and resource efficiency for your applications when compared to PHP 7.3.
PHP Versions of Existing Accounts
Your PHP versions will remain unchanged unless you specifically want to switch to PHP 7.4.
Our servers run HardenedPHP which means all older PHP versions (4.4, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3) are securely patched so you can continue to use them if you need to.
That being said, we highly recommend switching to PHP 7.4 to experience better performance and resource efficiency for your websites.
You can always revert back to your older version of PHP if you face any compatibility issues with PHP 7.4 which should be quite rare now.
To change the PHP version of your account, head over to cPanel > Select PHP Version:
